Boho and capsule sound like opposites — one loves abundance, the other counts hangers. They meet if the prints agree on a palette.
A capsule lives or dies on whether random pairs get along, and prints are the risk factor. Fix it by choosing two base neutrals (cream and a dark — navy, black or chocolate) plus one accent family (terracotta-rust, sage-olive or berry). Every print that enters the capsule must contain a base and the accent. Do that, and the loudest floral in the closet still matches two-thirds of everything else.
| # | Piece | Role |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Floral maxi dress + solid midi dress | One loud, one quiet; each a complete outfit |
| 3 | Tiered maxi skirt | Splits the dresses into new outfits |
| 4–5 | Bib overalls + wide-leg jumpsuit | The one-garment days |
| 6–7 | Palazzo pants + relaxed jeans | Printed swing and sturdy denim |
| 8–9 | Two fitted tops in the base neutrals | Under overalls, tucked into skirts |
| 10–11 | Oversized sweater + long cardigan | The warmth layer and the shape layer |
| 12 | Hoodie in the accent color | Weekends, travel, and the layer under denim |
Two dresses wear alone or under both knits: six looks. Skirt times two tops times two knits: eight more. Two one-piece garments, alone or layered: six. Two pants times two tops times three top layers: over twelve. Past thirty combinations from twelve hangers — and that is before a belt, boots or a knotted hem changes a single one of them.
Buy the loud floral dress first — it defines the palette better than any paint swatch ever could. Then the two fitted tops (they make everything else wearable immediately), then overalls, then the long cardigan. The pieces after that are refinement, not foundation. One in, one out keeps it a capsule instead of a closet with a manifesto.
Twelve pieces worn constantly need more care than forty pieces worn rarely. Rotate rather than repeat, air knits between wears, and follow the fabric care routine — in a capsule, one shrunken maxi is not a casualty, it is a vacancy. Fit rules for each silhouette live in the size guide.
